Geography must constrain possibility
Locations need stable relationships: which road reaches the port, which bridge connects allied realms and which island requires a seaworthy ship. The player should be able to inspect reachable destinations and understand why a distant danger is currently inaccessible.
Travel can then carry cost through time, supplies, weather and encounters instead of becoming a menu teleport.
Factions need their own motion
A war should not freeze until the player enters the battlefield. Rival expeditions pursue goals, rulers negotiate and merchants react to blocked routes. World clocks do not need to simulate every citizen, but they should advance meaningful pressures.
Political consequences become richer when realms are not culturally uniform. Migrant communities, old alliances and minority merchants complicate a simple continent-versus-continent story.
Generated scenes must inherit identity
A contextual tavern can be generated at runtime, but it should use the region's architecture, economy, inhabitants, current weather and faction tension. Without those constraints, every interior becomes an attractive but disconnected fantasy room.
The same identity rules should shape names, clothing, available goods, creatures and local rumors.
Continuity should survive expansions
A true continuation preserves the party, possessions, injuries, relationships and political aftermath. New Seasons may raise the threat and reveal new places without pretending the earlier campaign never happened.
Living Party's Brotah is structured around fixed geography and canon with contextual generation inside those boundaries. The base expedition and paid Seasons continue one durable campaign history.
Frequently asked questions
What is a persistent RPG world?
It is a world where locations, relationships, quests and political consequences remain changed after the player leaves a scene or ends a session.
Can AI generate an entire world consistently?
Consistency improves when fixed canon, geography and state constrain contextual generation. Unbounded generation alone is not enough.
Do expansions need separate characters?
Not necessarily. Continuation Seasons can preserve the same character and party while expanding the campaign.
